To get to the Namib desert, you’ll need to know where it is first! This particular desert is located in the western area of Nambia and ends in the town of Luderitz in the south. These places are found in Southern Afrcia, and inland from the Atlantic Ocean. The Namib desert is divided into two parts: the Central Namib, and the Southern Namib. The Central Namib is from the Uniab to the Kuiseb rivers. The Southern Namib is from the Kuiseb river to the town of Luderitz.
Why would you want to see a possibly lethal desert? The Namib desert isn’t just a desert, it’s the oldest desert in the world with an age of 55 million. There are 31,200 square miles of this desert just full of the spectacular sand dunes. In Southern Namib, there’s a belt of sand dunes 320 km long, 120 km wide, and they reach up to the sky with elevations at 300 m high!
